Using the Tryst messaging system

Every profile on Tryst has a Message Me button that will start a new conversation between provider and client. Tryst messaging can also be used to contact other providers on Tryst.

If you need to, you can block specific users, or choose to enable or disable messages from other users in general.

Seeing your messages

You will receive an email for each new message received, so you don't need to check Tryst regularly for new messages. These emails will not contain the contents of the message. To read the message, follow these steps.

  1. Log into your Tryst account and go to Messages.

  2. A list of all messages you currently have will appear, just like in an email inbox. Messages you haven't read yet will have a blue dot next to them.

  3. Click on the conversation you want to open.

Messaging with clients

  1. Log in to your Tryst account and go to Messages.

  2. Click on the conversation you want to open.

  3. Enter the message you want to send to the client in the Message field and click Send.

  4. The client will receive a notification email to let them know you've replied.

Whenever a client messages you, you will be able to see some information about them in the Profile section. Tryst doesn't verify this information so please screen clients as you normally would.

How long we keep your messages

Tryst is committed to keeping as little user data as possible. Many web services keep information for years, and it’s often difficult to know just how much of your data is still stored across the Internet.

We want to make sure you won’t have that problem with Tryst. To help achieve that, from Jul 1, 2024, we will delete messages after a set amount of time:

  • Messages to and from other users are kept for 90 days from the date they were sent.
  • System messages from Tryst.link are kept for 180 days from the date they were sent.

These time limits apply even if you have not read these messages. If you need a permanent record of the messages you have sent and received, you may want to keep your own copy.
