If you’ve been using Tryst.link for a while, you may have noticed that our verification requirements have changed. We now require you to clearly show your face and unredacted ID during verification.
We’re a platform by and for sex workers, and every change we’ve made has been carefully developed to make sure we put your privacy and your business’s success first.
Responding to changes in the world
The world has changed in ways that affect the sex industry, especially on the Internet. Governments around the world have passed new laws that affect Tryst.link, and our payment processors have added new compliance regulations. We want Tryst.link to be around for a long time, which means adapting to these new requirements.
Our payment processors now require us to check government-issued identification to ensure that providers are over 18. Many government bodies in the areas that Tryst.link serves also require us to be able to confirm this.
When advertising platforms make changes to comply with these requirements, there are many choices they can make. We choose to prioritise sex worker privacy and handle your information as securely as possible. We want to make sure that you always have an option which puts your needs first.
Keeping your account secure
Since we had to make these changes, we made sure that we used the opportunity to improve our processes in ways that also help you.
Sex workers are often targeted by hackers and scammers. A Tryst.link account belonging to a sex worker with a good reputation is valuable to someone who could impersonate them, then steal deposits and personal information from their clients. Many sex workers also have people in their personal lives, like ex-partners or family, who may try to gain access to their accounts and compromise their livelihoods.
We’ve modified the guidelines and processes we use around verification photos to help us secure your account. We don’t keep any of your identification documents after approval, but having a face photo we can match if you lose access to your account helps us ensure it’s still you.
We know how much losing an account can damage your brand and business, especially if it’s been compromised by a scammer. We want to make sure that, wherever possible, we’re able to help you get it back.
