How does Tryst handle images with nudity?

All images uploaded to Tryst.link are assessed by a human. For legal reasons, images we've marked as containing nudity are not displayed for some visitors, or on some parts of the site.

What does Tryst consider nudity?

Different cultures, jurisdictions and people all have different definitions of nudity, and of what is needed for nudity to be considered pornography.

While our main purpose is not to be a pornography provider, the images we host can be interpreted as pornographic by internet regulators in different countries. We have to define nudity in ways that allow us to keep your profile online with as much reach as possible.

Our interpretation of nudity includes:

  • Uncovered or visible genitals.
  • Uncovered nipples, regardless of gender. Nipples that are covered by fishnet, sheer or transparent cloth without additional garments offering nipple coverage (such as bras, nipple pasties, or singlets) underneath will also be categorised as nudity.
  • Topless photos without nipples may be defined as nudity on a case-by-case basis.
  • Visible, unclothed buttocks. Visible butt cheeks are not considered nudity if a G-string, bikini, jockstrap, or similar is being worn. If any genitals are visible, regardless of clothing worn, the image will be marked as nudity.

Our human moderators assess each image uploaded to Tryst.link using these criteria.

How are images with nudity handled differently?

Images that our moderators mark as containing nudity are treated differently in two ways. We recommend having at least one image without nudity on your profile to reach the widest audience.

Thumbnail images, link previews and banners

Thumbnail images are shown in search results and on our homepage, and will be blurred if they contain nudity.

Photos which contain nudity may be against the terms of service of other platforms, even in the preview displayed when someone shares your Tryst profile as a link.

These previews, and any banners you embed on your website, would usually use one of your header images. This image will always be chosen from options which do not contain nudity. If all your header images contain nudity, a non-nude image from your profile will be shown instead. If you have no non-nude images on your profile, a generic image will be shown.

Location-based restrictions

Images containing nudity are currently hidden for visitors from IP addresses in France, Germany and the United Kingdom. This change was made to comply with recent laws in those countries that require age verification to view nude images on the internet.

Visitors outside France, Germany and the UK will continue to view nude images uncensored.

If you're active in France, Germany or the UK, we recommend having at least a few non-nude photos on your profile, so they'll be visible to your audience in that region.

We've chosen to hide images containing nudity in those regions instead of requiring all visitors to verify their age before accessing Tryst.link. This allows Tryst.link to remain online in France, Germany and the UK without extra costs or burdens to visitors.

We've planned future changes to blur images instead of hiding them, more clearly show you which images will be affected, and exclude age-verified, logged-in providers from blurring. We'll keep you updated on our blog and social media as we make these changes.

For more information about our approach to these new laws, check out our blog post from August 2025.
