Tryst features a powerful analytics suite that can help you make sure your profile is as effective as possible, and learn a little more about what draws clients to you.Â
Providers on our Standard or Premium plans have access to a wide variety of analytics, right down to which thumbnails being used around Tryst result in the highest click-through rate (CTR). As you make changes you make to your profile (your photos, tagline, about text, etc), you can see if these change your analytics. In general, you'll get the most value out of analytics by making improvements to your profile, rather than comparing your numbers with other providers.
Important to know:Â Your analytics will be delayed by 24 hours, ensuring that you are seeing a full day's results and not partial results. If you've just upgraded, you won't start to see relevant data for a day or two.
Analytics data can vary substantially. Things like your location, plan level, and the general environment at any given moment. You will get the maximum value out of the analytics by focusing on your own numbers rather than worrying about what other providers are seeing.
Analytics lingo
If you aren't familiar with language used in analytics or SEO (search engine optimisation) spaces, it can be quite confusing! We've included a glossary of the common analytics terms we use in Tryst to help you understand what each statistic is meant to tell you.
- Impressions — An impression is when something is displayed. On Tryst.link, we show your thumbnail throughout the site, such as on our homepage or in search results. Every time your image is displayed when someone loads a page, it will count as an impression. This statistic tells you how often your profile is being shown on any page that a user is browsing.
-
Views — Views are very similar to impressions, but specifically mean that a whole page is loaded, not just one element. On Tryst.link, your views mean how many times someone's loaded your profile.
- Location — Location seems obvious, right? It's not quite that simple. We show you where a visitor seems to be from, but this is based on connection information and might not be 100% correct. For example, a user in Australia browsing Tryst via a VPN server in Greece will most likely show as a Greek visitor, rather than an Australian one.
-
Click-through rate (CTR) — CTR tracks every time someone clicks on something to go somewhere else. On Tryst.link, we use this to refer to every time someone clicks on a thumbnail to visit your profile. We track CTR individually for every thumbnail photo that you have selected, so you can see which ones are most effective at getting a client's attention.
People looking for a provider start with an impression, then clicking on a thumbnail, then viewing your profile, then ultimately to contacting you. No matter what, there will always be people who don't move to the next step. Analytics can help you maximise the number of people who do continue on, and therefore the number of bookings you get through Tryst.link.
Turning data into useful information
These statistics are only useful if you observe how they change when you make different choices.
For example, we tell you how often someone sees your thumbnail (thumbnail impressions) and then clicks through and views your profile (profile views). You can change which photos you include in your thumbnail rotation, then see how this impacts your click-through rate. On a Standard or Premium plan you can see these statistics for each individual image.
It's important to make sure your interpretation of this data doesn't include overly broad conclusions. The click-through rate doesn't tell you which of your images are objectively "better" — an image may not result in the best CTR, but it may be a strong motivator for prospective clients who are already on your profile to get in touch. What the click-through rate does tell you is which images are the most effective thumbnails, motivating prospective clients to visit your profile and find out more.
Each section in depth
Overview
The first thing you will see at the top of your analytics page is a quick overview of your results for the last 30 days. This is made up of:
-
Impressions:Â An impression is counted each time your profile is shown somewhere on Tryst. If you have 1,000 impressions, that means that your profile was shown in search results, similar profiles, categories pages, etc. 1,000 times. We only count an impression when your profile thumbnail is actually visible on screen, not when someone's loaded a page but never scrolls down and sees your thumbnail.
- Clicks:Â This is the total number of times a user clicked on your profile in a listing on Tryst, whether it's from a search listing, similar profiles, a category page, or something else. If you have 100 clicks that means your profile thumbnail was clicked on 100 times. This is used to determine your click-through rate.
- CTR (Click-through rate): Click-through rate is a way to display the percentage of people who saw your thumbnail who actually clicked on it to load your profile page. In our example numbers above, that would be 100 clicks on 1000 impressions, giving you a CTR of 10%.
- Profile views:Â This is the total number of times your profile page itself was viewed. This includes people who navigated directly to your page (for example from their favourites list or a link on your social media profile) and people who saw it after clicking on your thumbnail somewhere on Tryst.
- Photo views:Â This is the total number of times someone viewed the photos on your profile at full size by clicking on them.
Contact information
The next section will give you an idea of which of your contact methods are performing the best.
- Email or Mobile reveal:Â This counts every time a user clicks the button to show your email address or phone number.
- Email or Mobile click:Â This counts every time a user clicks the link that is visible after revealing the contact information. In the case of emails this will mean they started composing a new email to you and in the case of phone numbers it usually is a phone call or text message.
- Web or Social links clicks:Â This is the number of times someone followed one of your links to another service, such as your social media profiles or website.
Charts
We show two main charts on the analytics page: thumbnail impressions and profile views. These charts show you daily numbers for the last 30 days to give you more detailed information about how your profile is performing. This is a great way to check how your profile performance has changed when you change plans.
- Thumbnail impressions:Â This counts total number of times your profile thumbnail was shown somewhere on Tryst, including search results, category pages, etc. Hover over or tap the little dots to see how many time your profile thumbnail appeared that day.
- Profile views:Â This counts the total number of times your profile page was viewed. Hover over or tap the little dots to see how many time your profile thumbnail appeared that day.
Viewer location
For all of our paid users, we estimate the current location of your profile's visitors based on their IP address. This isn't perfect (for example using a VPN can cause a different location to be detected), but it does help you understand where people who are interested in you are based. We break this information into country, region, and city. You can use this to confirm that your profile is appearing in touring locations as you would expect, or to plan potential future tours.
Photo analytics
For our Standard and Premium tier users, we provide in-depth per-photo analytics to help you understand exactly which photos are performing best, both on your profile and as thumbnails. For each photo, we track:
- Views:Â This is the total number of times in the last 30 days that your photo was viewed full size on your profile (a user clicked on it).
- Impressions (thumbnails only): For each photo used as a thumbnail we will show how many times that particular photo was shown as your thumbnail image.
- Clicks (thumbnails only): Every time that profile thumbnail is clicked on for each photo.
- CTRÂ (thumbnails only):Â The total percent of clicks for impressions for that photo, higher CTRs indicate more people are clicking on that photo than others that are being used as thumbnails.
To maximise the chance of your thumbnail getting clicked, we use an algorithm that uses your thumbnail photo performance data to show your better performing photos more often.
Want to control which photos are used as thumbnails? Simply check the "use as thumbnail" box on the Manage Photos page! Testing out different photos is a great way to see which ones get the most clicks and show you off in the best way possible.
